Interventional Pain management is a relatively new branch in medicine and is growing very fast. But training facilities are not easily available all around the world. Pain After Spine Surgery Are you still feeling pain after spine surgery? Sometimes pain may increase or change its character after spine surgery. Upto 50% patients may have this problem after different kinds of spine surgery. It is called failed back surgery syndrome or post laminectomy syndrome or simply failed back syndrome. There are only a few pain management clinics in India to manage these patients. Spinal cord stimulation may be the only treatment options at times.
Prolotherapy / Prolozone Therapy
Prolotherapy is the procedure where tissue proliferant is injected into the damaged tissue to induce tissue growth. As the damaged tissue is healed the pain is reduced. Different types of tissue proliferants had been used with success. When ozone and oxygen mixture is injected as proliferant it is called Prolozone therapy. Prolotherapy or Prolozone therapy is a very effective tool of pain management though is underutilised in India.
