The specialty of Pain Management is becoming popular day by day. Newer developments in understanding pathophysiology of pain has radically changed pain management. With some minimally invasive procedures many surgeries can also be avoided.
We are organizing 'Workshops on Basics of Pain Management' for General Physicians at DARADIA: The Pain Clinic, Kolkata There will be in-depth discussion on pathophysiology of pain pathway, one-to-one interactions with experts (national and international), detailed discussion on common pain syndromes, Live and Video demonstration of different interventional procedures, etc.
Course duration: Two days
Eligibility: Medical graduate (MBBS)
Schedule: It is arranged on Saturday/Sunday/Holydays, dates are declared well in advance. This course is generally organized 3/4 times per year, in February, May, August and November.

Day-1

·Anatomy, physiology & pathophysiology of pain.
·Discussion on Acute Pain/Chronic Pain & Nociceptive Pain/Neuropathic Pain.
·Effects of untreated Pain.
·Psychological evaluation and intervention in Pain management.
·Principles of Medical/ Conservative management of Pain.
Lunch: 1-2pm

Overview of the following problems.
1. Spondylosis / Spondyloarthropathy.
2. Disc Prolapse/ Slipped Disc/ Degenerated disc.
3. Osteo-arthritis & other degenerative arthropathy.
4. Rheumatoid & other inflammatory arthropathy.
5. Fibromyalgia & Myofascial Pain Syndrome.
How to evaluate and manage different pain syndromes

d. Joint Pain
e. Cancer Pain

· III. Common exercises & rehabilitation of patients suffering from Pain
